Essie Penny Talk Review

Essie’s Penny Talk is a beautiful rose gold/bronze color with a metallic finish. It is a color for people aspiring to be trendy and professional at the same time. It is more golden bronze than pink with darker silvery streaks of color throughout. Don't worry, the silver is usually only visible from looking at the bottle.

This color is opaque using one thick coat but beware when you try going over an already painted area, as the paint can drag and create an extremely uneven application. It can look streaky because of this but despite it being difficult to work with, if you do get it to apply well, it is worth the effort. This polish also is not very forgiving if you have ridges on your nails. It doesn't accentuate them too much, but it also doesn't hide them.

We love this color because of its versatility and the fact that it is like a neutral color but better!

Our Rating: 4/5

Get Some:
Penny Talk is part of Essie’s Mirror Metallics collection available now. This color can usually be found at places that normally carry Essie - Target, Walgreens, Ulta, etc. Be on the lookout because the Mirror Metallics might be on a different display from the permanent Essie polishes.

Permanent Essie polishes can also be found at Kmart and Walmart. You also can look for Essie online on Essie.com, Nordstrom.com, Beauty.com, Ulta.com, and others.
Essie polishes vary in price from around $7.50-$8.50.

Our Tips for Perfect Tips:
Make sure to shake the bottle extremely well (to a point where you can hear the tiny metal ball inside the bottle stirring the paint around) so as to get the polish to a less “chunky” consistency and to reduce the darker silver streaks of color you can see from the outside of the bottle. The goal is to get the mixture as uniform as possible. Try applying as few coats as necessary or apply with as little pressure as possible. If you must have more than one coat, make sure to apply when previous coat is completely dry. Because of this, a topcoat is not a necessity. After 3-4 days, you may have minimal chipping on the tips.

Where to Wear:
The beauty of this color is the fact that it goes anywhere you do. Like a great pair of jeans, Penny Talk can be dressed up or down depending on if you’re giving a work presentation, going to a friend’s wedding, making a great impression on the first day of school, or going out to happy hour with friends.
