DIY Lookbook

We like to give Christmas presents to our friends together. We figured that it would be more worthwhile (for them) and easier (for us) to go in on each of their gifts together. So then our friends would get a bigger present instead of a couple small trinkets and we can pool our ideas and resources to give some really cool stuff. One of the ideas we came up with this year is a lookbook. But not just any old lookbook. Along with it we bought a set of clothes that would be able to be made into different outfits. The clothes in this lookbook were part of the gift to our friend themselves!

The Inspiration:

Look at any catalog or fashion magazine and you'll instantly see what sparked our imaginations to put together this easy and thoughtful gift for any occasion!

What You'll Need:
  • Clothes, of course
  • Photos of the clothes
  • A notebook
  • Scrapbooking/decorating materials
  • Markers

How To Do It:

1. Buy a variety of clothes that go well together/that can create multiple outfits.

2. Take some hangers (or be your own clothing model) and take pictures of each item of clothing.

3. Start planning all the different outfits the clothes can create.

4. Upload these pictures to somewhere like Walgreens.com or take your memory card to a photo developer (Wal-Mart, Target, etc).

5. Order duplicates for the items that will be included in many different outfits.

6. Once you've picked up your pictures, you can begin assembling the book! Leave an empty page at the beginning to leave a note (optional).

7. Glue or tape the pictures to the book, adding a title for the look, any additional pieces necessary, and extras like + signs or any cute embellishments.

8. A finished spread would look something like this:

This gift is both practical and sentimental for anyone! Along with being easy on the wallet (depending on how pricey your duds are), the recipient will see how much effort you put into the shopping and the lookbook and it will give them ideas every time they choose an outfit. They say, "it's the thought that counts" but now you have the recipient-actually-likes-this-gift-and-can-use-it to match!

We love to hear from you! Email us your cute gift ideas at whycantwehaveeverything@gmail.com or leave a comment! :)

Your Friends in Everything, Kayla & Angela
